Hello, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 2 National Value Education. In our previous lesson, we learned about Ways Of Preventing Intake Of Harmful Substances. Today, we’re going to learn about Sources of Danger And Insecurity.
Objectives By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: Cognitive domain: Identify and list at least five sources of insecurity. Affective domain: Express the importance of staying safe from these dangers. Social Domain: Discuss with classmates ways to avoid these sources of insecurity.
Sources Of Danger And Insecurity There are certain things that can make us feel unsafe, and it’s important to know these sources of danger and insecurity so that we can avoid them and stay safe. Some sources of insecurity include the following:
Strangers: People we do not know can sometimes be dangerous. It’s important to be cautious around strangers. For example, never talk to strangers or go with them without your parents’ permission. Unsafe Places: Areas that are not well-lit or are deserted can be risky. Always stay in safe, populated areas. For example, avoid walking alone in dark alleys or deserted parks. Fire: Playing with fire or being near fire without adult supervision can be very dangerous. For example, never play with matches or lighters, and always ask an adult before starting a fire. Sharp Objects: Items like knives or broken glass can cause injuries if not handled properly. For example, always ask an adult for help when using sharp objects, and never touch broken glass with your bare hands. Animals: Some animals, especially stray ones, can be dangerous. It’s important to stay away from them. For example, never approach a stray dog or cat, and always ask an adult before petting any animal. Traffic: Roads and streets can be dangerous places. Always cross the road at designated crosswalks and look both ways before crossing. Water: Bodies of water like rivers, lakes, and oceans can be dangerous. Never swim without adult supervision, and always wear a life jacket when boating.
- Harmful Substances: Certain substances like drugs, alcohol, and poisons can be dangerous. Never touch or consume any substance without adult permission.
Evaluation Questions Now that you’ve learned about sources of danger and insecurity, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- List three sources of insecurity that you learned about today.
- Explain why it is important to avoid strangers.
- Describe one way to stay safe from fire.
- Draw a picture of one source of danger you learned about.
