Hi, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 2 National Value Education. In our previous lesson, we learned about the Nigerian Army and how they keep us safe. Today, we’re going to learn about another important security agency: NAFDAC.
Objectives By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: Explain the meaning of NAFDAC. Appreciate the importance of NAFDAC in ensuring public health. Identify NAFDAC officials by their dress.
NAFDAC What is NAFDAC?
NAFDAC stands for the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. NAFDAC is like a guardian of our health, making sure the food and medicine we eat and use are safe.
Duties of NAFDAC Some of NAFDAC’s important duties include: Checking and controlling the making, bringing in, sending out, selling, and distributing of food, medicine, and beauty products. Making sure these products are safe for us to use. Taking action against companies that don’t follow safety rules.
How NAFDAC Officials Dress NAFDAC officials usually wear uniforms with the NAFDAC logo. They also carry special cards to show they work for the agency. Their uniforms help us easily recognize them when they are doing their jobs.
Evaluation Questions Now that you’ve learned about NAFDAC, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- What does NAFDAC stand for?
- What are two things NAFDAC does to keep us safe?
- Why is NAFDAC important for our health?
- How can you tell a NAFDAC official?
- What do you think would happen if we didn’t have NAFDAC?
Conclusions or Summary We learned that NAFDAC is a very important agency that helps keep us safe by making sure the food and medicine we use are safe. Remember to always be careful about what you eat and use, and if you have any questions, ask your parents or teachers.
