Some Ancient Towns in Nigeria
Calabar and Gobe are also among some ancient towns in Nigeria.
Calabar is located in the southeastern part of Nigeria. It is the capital of Cross River State and lies near the coast, close to the Cameroon border. Some of the historical landmarks in Calabar include the Old Calabar Town, which was a major trading center in the 19th century. It was also a significant center for the slave trade before its abolition.
- Gombe is located in the northeastern part of Nigeria. It is the capital of Gombe State and is situated approximately in the center of the northeastern part of the country. Gombe is known for its rich cultural heritage and is home to several historical sites, including the Gombe Emir’s Palace.
