The Four Early Regions In Nigeria
The Four Early Regions in Nigeria were created by the British colonial administration in the 1940s. These regions were:
- Northern Region: This region was the largest of the four and was primarily inhabited by people of Hausa and Fulani descent.
- Eastern Region: This region was located in the southeast of Nigeria and was primarily inhabited by people of Igbo descent.
- Western Region: This region was located in the southwest of Nigeria and was primarily inhabited by people of Yoruba descent.
- Mid-Western Region: This region was created in 1963 from the Western Region and was primarily inhabited by people of Edo and Delta descent.

The Four Early Regions were later divided into states. Here are the states that were part of each region:
North Nigeria

The main states that were part of the Eastern Region are:

There are six states that were part of the Western Region, and they are:

South Nigeria
The major states that were part of the South Region are:

- Edo
- Rivers
