Origin of Major Indigenous People of Nigeria
The origins of Nigeria’s major indigenous peoples are deeply rooted in oral histories and archaeological findings, painting a rich tapestry of cultural and ethnic diversity:
- Hausa-Fulani: The Hausa kingdoms were established between the 7th and 14th centuries in northern Nigeria, thriving on trade and agriculture. The Fulani, originally pastoralists, migrated to the Hausa region in the 13th century and later, in the 19th century, led a significant Islamic uprising under Usman dan Fodio, resulting in the establishment of the Sokoto Caliphate and merging Hausa and Fulani cultures. blank">SHORTCODE1] blank">SHORTCODE2]
