Hello, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 3 Basic Science Technology. In our previous lesson, we learned about Animals – Features Of Animals. Today, we’re going to learn about Energy.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- Define energy.
- List at least 5 forms of energy.
- Express appreciation for the importance of energy in daily life.
- Participate in group discussions about the various forms of energy.
Energy – Forms Of Energy
Energy is the ability to do work or cause a change. It’s all around us, making things happen!
Forms Of Energy:
There are many different forms of energy, and some of them include:
- Mechanical Energy: The energy of motion. Think about a car moving or a ball rolling down a hill.
- Thermal Energy: The energy of heat. This is the energy that makes things hot or cold.
- Light Energy: The energy that we see as light. The sun is a great source of light energy.
- Sound Energy: The energy that we hear as sound. When you clap your hands, you create sound energy.
- Electrical Energy: The energy that powers our homes and devices. It’s the energy that makes our lights turn on and our computers work.
Evaluation Questions
Now that you’ve learned about energy, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- What is energy?
- List three forms of energy.
- Give an example of how energy is used in our daily lives.
- What happens when you turn on a light switch?
- How does a hand-crank flashlight work?
Conclusions or Summary
We learned that energy is the ability to do work or cause a change. We also learned about different forms of energy, such as mechanical, thermal, light, sound, and electrical energy. Energy is essential for our daily lives, powering our homes, devices, and even our bodies.
