EFCC and ICPC
What are EFCC and ICPC?
EFCC and ICPC are important government agencies that work to keep our country safe and fair. They help protect us from bad things like stealing money from the government or cheating people out of their money.
- EFCC stands for Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. It’s like a special police force that catches people who do bad things with money, like stealing or hiding money illegally.
- ICPC stands for Independent Corrupt Practices Commission. It’s like a watchdog that makes sure government officials are honest and don’t take bribes or use their power for personal gain.
Corruption
Corruption is like a disease that makes things unfair. It happens when people in power do dishonest or illegal things, like taking bribes or using their position for personal gain. Some examples of corruption include:
- A government official taking money to give a job to someone who doesn’t deserve it.
- A teacher accepting money from a student to give them good grades.
- A police officer taking a bribe to let someone go free after committing a crime.
Duties of EFCC and ICPC
EFCC and ICPC have important jobs to do to fight corruption and keep our country safe.
- EFCC: They investigate financial crimes, arrest and punish people who commit these crimes, and teach people about how to stay safe from financial scams.
- ICPC: They investigate corrupt practices in the government, arrest and punish corrupt officials, and teach people about the dangers of corruption.
How they dress
EFCC and ICPC officers wear special uniforms so people can recognize them.
- EFCC officers usually wear red jackets with “EFCC” written on them.
- ICPC officers often wear uniforms with “ICPC” written on them, sometimes in green or blue.
