Hi, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 2 Basic Science Technology. In our previous lesson, we learned about floatation in water. Today, we’re going to learn about Things That Float In The Air.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- Identify and name things that float in the air.
- Show curiosity and interest in learning about how things float.
- Create simple models of things that float.
- Discuss and share ideas about things that float in the air in groups.
Things That Float In The Air
Floatation in air is similar to floatation in water, but it involves objects floating or flying in the air. This happens when the object is less dense (heavy) than the air around it or when it can displace (move or push) air to create lift.
Examples Of Things That Float In The Air
Some of the things that can float in the air include:
- Clouds
- Balloons
- Bubbles
- Feathers
- Lightweight paper
These are examples of things that can float in the air due to being lighter than air or having specific shapes and materials that allow them to rise when air moves around them.
Evaluation Questions
Now that you’ve learned about things that float in the air, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- Name three things that can float in the air.
- Why do balloons float in the air?
- Can a stone float in the air? Why or why not?
- What are some other examples of things that float in the air?
- How do clouds float in the air?
Conclusions or Summary
We learned that things float in the air because they are lighter than air or because they can displace air to create lift. We also learned about some examples of things that float in the air, such as clouds, balloons, and bubbles. Don’t forget to check the comments section if you have any questions, and use the navigation to move to the next lesson. See you in the next lesson!
