Religion
Religion is a set of beliefs, practices, and values that connect people to a higher power or divine being. It helps people understand the meaning of life and guides them on how to live a good life.
Types of Religion
There are many different religions in the world. Some of the major religions include:
Christianity
- Followers are called Christians.
- Holy book: The Bible.
- Major figure: Jesus Christ.
- Worship place: Church.
Islam
- Followers are called Muslims.
- Holy book: The Quran.
- Major figure: Prophet Muhammad.
- Worship place: Mosque.
Hinduism
- Followers are called Hindus.
- Holy books: Vedas, Upanishads, and others.
- Major figures: Various gods and goddesses.
- Worship place: Temple.
Buddhism
- Followers are called Buddhists.
- Holy books: Tripitaka (Pali Canon) and others.
- Major figure: Gautama Buddha.
- Worship place: Temple or pagoda.
Judaism
- Followers are called Jews.
- Holy book: The Torah.
- Major figures: Abraham, Moses.
- Worship place: Synagogue.
Traditional Religion
- Followed by various ethnic groups in Nigeria.
- Beliefs are passed down through generations.
- Worship includes rituals and ceremonies.
- Worship places vary by culture.
