Hello, Primary 2 students! Welcome back to History class. In our previous lesson, we learned about Heroes And Heroines In The State. Today, we’re going to learn about more heroes and heroines from our state.

- Identify and describe two heroes and heroines from their state.
- Show appreciation for the contributions of these figures to their state.
- Discuss in groups the virtues of these heroes and heroines and how they can emulate these virtues.

What are Heroes and Heroines?
Heroes and heroines are people who have done great things for their community, state, or country. They are often admired for their courage, kindness, and hard work.
Description
Some of the heroes and heroines from our state include:
- Chief Obafemi Awolowo Chief Awolowo was a very important leader who helped our state and the whole country by making sure that children can go to school for free. He was a strong advocate for education and believed that it was the key to a better future for everyone.
- Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Dr. Azikiwe was one of the first Presidents of our country, and he worked very hard to make Nigeria a peaceful place where all people can live happily together. He was a strong believer in unity and worked to promote understanding and cooperation between different groups in the country.
- Queen Amina of Zaria: Queen Amina was a strong and brave queen who lived a long time ago. She was known for being a great warrior and leader. She helped to make her kingdom bigger and protected her people with smart strategies and courage. She was a role model for women and showed that they could be just as strong and capable as men.
- Mary Slessor Mary Slessor came from far away to help people in our state. She was very kind and worked to stop bad traditions and to save the lives of twins. She was a missionary who dedicated her life to helping others and fighting for what was right. She was also a strong advocate for the rights of women and children.
- Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Mrs. Ransome-Kuti was a fearless woman who fought for the rights of women in Nigeria. She wanted to make sure that women could vote, go to school, and have the same opportunities as men. She was a pioneer in the fight for women’s rights and inspired many others to join her cause.
These heroes and heroines have done important things to help our state and country be a better place. They teach us to be brave, kind, and to work hard for what is right.
