There are many individuals who have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s history. Some of these individuals include:
Ovoramwen Of Benin
Ovoramwen Of Benin was born on July 25, 1857. He was the Oba (king) of the Benin Kingdom in present-day Nigeria. Ovoramwen played a significant role in the resistance against British colonial rule. He was known for his strong leadership and his efforts to preserve the Benin Kingdom’s traditions and culture. Ovoramwen Of Benin passed away on January 8, 1914.
Sir Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
Sir Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was born on December 1912. He was Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, serving from 1957 to 1966. Tafawa Balewa played a crucial role in Nigeria’s struggle for independence and the early years of the country’s nationhood. He was known for his diplomatic skills and commitment to national unity. Sir Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was assassinated on January 15, 1966.
