Hello, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 1 National Values Education. In our previous lesson, we learned about The Family – Meaning of a Family. Today, we’re going to learn about Culture.
Objectives By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: * Explain the meaning of culture.
Culture What is culture? Culture refers to the way of life of a group of people, including their beliefs, customs, traditions, and values. It’s like a unique fingerprint that makes each group of people special.
Some of the things that make up culture include: * Beliefs: These are the things that people believe in, such as religion or spirituality. * Customs: These are the traditions and practices that people follow, like celebrating holidays or eating certain foods. * Traditions: These are the things that have been passed down from generation to generation, like stories, songs, or dances. * Values: These are the things that people consider important, like honesty, kindness, or respect.
Examples of Culture Imagine you are visiting a new country. You might notice that people there speak a different language, wear different clothes, eat different foods, and celebrate different holidays. These are all examples of culture.
Evaluation Questions Now that you’ve learned about culture, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- What is culture?
- Can you name some examples of things that make up culture?
