Hi, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 6 Basic Science and Technology. In our previous lesson, we learned about No previous lesson found.. Today, we’re going to learn about Colour.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- Define colour.
- State the types/examples of primary colours.
Colour
What is Colour?
Colour is how we perceive different wavelengths of light. Think about a rainbow! It shows us all the different colours of light that make up white light. We see a red apple because it reflects red light and absorbs all the other colours.
Types of Primary Colours
There are three primary colours: red, blue, and yellow. These are called primary colours because you can’t make them by mixing other colours. They are the building blocks of all other colours!
Some of the examples of primary colours include:
- Red: A ripe tomato, a fire truck, a stop sign.
- Blue: The sky on a clear day, a blueberry, a blue crayon.
- Yellow: A banana, a sunflower, a yellow school bus.
Evaluation Questions
Now that you’ve learned about colour, let’s see if you can answer these questions:
- What is colour?
- Can you name one of the primary colours?
- Why are primary colours important in art and design?
- What are some examples of primary colours you see in your everyday life?
- Can you think of any other colours that are not primary colours?
Conclusion
We learned that colour is how we see different wavelengths of light. We also learned that there are three primary colours: red, blue, and yellow. These primary colours are important because they can be mixed to create all the other colours we see. Don’t forget to check the comments section if you have any questions, and use the navigation to move to the next lesson. See you in the next lesson!
