Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our Christian Religious Knowledge class for Primary 3. In our previous lesson, we learned about the second coming of Jesus Christ. Today, we will learn about a very special topic: Preparation for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Lesson Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- State why Jesus is coming back the second time.
- Identify things you need to do while you await the second coming of Jesus.
- Narrate the story of the ten virgins.
Why Jesus is Coming Back the Second Time?
Jesus is coming back to take all believers to Heaven and to judge the world. He wants to take us to a beautiful place He has prepared for us. In John 14:3, Jesus says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Steps to Prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus
It is important to prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Therefore, all believers should:
- Stay Steadfast: Always stay strong in your faith. Don’t let anything make you stop believing in Jesus.
- Be Patient: Sometimes, waiting can be hard. However, we need to be patient because Jesus will come back at the right time.
- Be Vigilant: Always be watchful and ready. This means living a life that pleases God and being kind and loving to others.
- Pray Regularly: Keep talking to God every day. Prayer helps us stay close to God and strengthens our faith.
- Read the Bible: Reading God’s Word helps us know how to live and what to expect. It keeps our minds focused on Jesus.
- Share the Good News: Tell others about Jesus and His love. This helps more people get ready for His return.
- Repent of Sins: Always ask for forgiveness when you do something wrong and most importantly, keep your heart clean before God.
The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13)
Jesus told a story to help us understand how to be ready for His return.
The Story: Once, there were ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, but the other five were foolish and did not bring extra oil. The bridegroom was delayed, and they all fell asleep. At midnight, a cry was heard: ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
The foolish virgins realized their lamps were going out and asked the wise ones for oil, but they replied, ‘No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ While they were away buying oil, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut. When the foolish virgins returned, they found the door locked and cried, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
Lessons Learned:
- Be Prepared: Like the wise virgins, always be ready for Jesus’ return by living a good life.
- Be Patient: The bridegroom took a long time to come. We need to be patient as we wait for Jesus.
- Be Vigilant: Keep your ‘lamp’ (faith) burning brightly, always ready for Jesus.
- Be Wise: Make good choices and think ahead, like the wise virgins who brought extra oil.
