The Four Early Regions In Nigeria
The four early regions in Nigeria were:
- Northern Region
- Western Region
- Eastern Region
- Mid-Western Region
Eastern Region
The Eastern Region was one of the four regions in Nigeria before the country’s independence in 1960. It was located in the southeastern part of the country and was known for its rich culture, diverse ethnic groups, and abundant natural resources. Some of the major ethnic groups in the Eastern Region include the Igbo, Ibibio, and Efik. The region was also a major producer of palm oil, rubber, and cocoa.
Mid-Western Region
The Mid-Western Region was created in 1963 from the Western Region. It was located in the southwestern part of the country and was known for its rich agricultural land and its vibrant culture. Some of the major ethnic groups in the Mid-Western Region include the Edo, Urhobo, and Isoko. The region was a major producer of rubber, palm oil, and timber.
